November is here and this is the second year I’ll be participating in NaNoWriMo. Add me as a writing buddy!
This year I’m writing the first draft of Bado The Celestial, a New Adult/Dark Fantasy. Matriarchy, dream priestesses, and death. This is my first time using an outline for a first draft. I usually improvise (“pants”) my first draft, but I’ve read some advice from author Victoria Schwab that I’ve taken to heart. To paraphrase, she says that as a professional author, she literally can’t afford to go 20,000 words in the wrong direction. Since my aim is to be a traditionally published author, and a prolific one, I decided to outline. If it doesn’t work for me, I will adjust. I’m realizing after years of writing, that my process will always be evolving, so there’s no pressure to avoid new things.
I’ve made a Pinterest board for visual inspiration.
