Holy shit, I pulled it off. I’m relieved and pleased with myself. This was definitely a learning experience. I hit so many walls with the plot, but I also went in directions I never would have thought up if I hadn’t forced myself to sit down and write. Life got in the way, and so did distractions. You can see my struggle in the middle weeks. But I pulled through!
I also learned a lot about the way I write, and what I might do differently before I sit down and write my next novel. I will definitely plan better, and work to make writing a habit. I was amused by my local word count chart. It shows everyone struggling at the last minute. It gave me a laugh and made me feel less alone.
Now that I’ve finished my first draft of Ouija Bitches (working title), that I wouldn’t let a shoe read, I’m going to let it marinate a while and reread it in a month or so. I’m going to refocus on my BLOOD AND ETHER trilogy. I’m going to be reading a lot about the craft and story structure, and raking over my plot and characters. My goal is to traditionally publish and I won’t be deterred!
